Eating Disorders Turn Us into Liars
•March 30, 2011 • Leave a CommentSo if you have an eating disorder you’ll completly know what I’m talking about, you don’t you can probably catch on…
Lying…seems to happen all the time. I’m in college, and away from home, so my mom constantly asks me what I ate for dinner, and I have to lie to her about what I ate for dinner because what I did infact eat or if I didn’t eat at all, she would never consider an acceptable amount. You lie to family because you care about them, and dont’ want them to worry. You lie to friends about why you can’t have dinner with them or about how you have to do something immediatley following dinner. You lie to your friends so they won’t find you out…You lie to yourself about how what you’re doing isn’t that bad.
Lying almost becomes second nature when it is around your rituals and people who care about you and who you care about. It is easier to tell your doctor or theripist the truth, because although the care, they are not part of your every day, moment to moment life. But sometimes I wish I could just stop lying to those I care about. I wish I could tell my friends and family all that is going on without the fear of being judged or of concerning those around me.
Do you think that is a possibility?
Hello world!
